You, Me, Them, Everybody lightens up Monday nights at Chicago’s Hungry Brain

Take one part Craig Ferguson, toss in some of NPR’s Fresh Air and a pinch of Bozo’s Circus, then put the mix in a bar in Chicago’s North Side and you’ll end up with You, Me, Them, Everybody, a great local spin on the talk show/variety show concept.

Brandon Wetherbee

You, Me, Them, Everybody is a podcast focusing on Chicago culture hosted by Brandon Wetherbee and Esmeralda Leon that’s generally recorded weekly in Brandon’s West Town apartment. But once a month they get out of the apartment and take it live to the Hungry Brain, a Roscoe Village neighborhood bar.

The next live show is April 26, and featured guests include author Stephanie Kuehnert (I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone) and stand up comedian Junior Stopka, who recently opened for Doug Stanhope at the Lakeshore Theater. Musical guest Team Band will be performing a special set, and Jeremy Tromburg of the Ragtones will be playing music throughout the show.

Besides the monthly Late Night with YMTE, the group hosts other events every Monday evening at the Hungry Brain. Ranging from musical acts to lectures to films and more, each Monday features a different type of artist. Past events have included films from the blog Everything is Terrible, music from Daniel Knox and Homeroom’s 101 lecture series.

YMTE also produces the Chicago Music Podcast, as well as short films and music videos. The music podcast has featured the Implodes, Post Honeymoon, Califone, Panda Riot, Mucca Pazza, Kid Sister, Serengeti, Pelican and many more. And Wetherbee also does one-on-one interviews with Chicagoans that have included Comedian Hannibal Buress, blogger Scott Smith, and graphic novelist Paul Hornschemeier.
