whether it’s in the shower, in our room while listening to ours favorite songs, or in front of a live audience we all have to channel our inner rockstar. Fortunately if you can overcome the hurdle of playing in front of a live audience Philadelphia has plenty of places where you can earn your stage cred. Here’s where to go for some great open mic nights.

Tritone – Every Tuesday night The Absolute Zeros host Tritone’s open mic night. All genres of music are welcome, and you can even play with a full band backing you up. Tritone

Fergie’s Pub – One of the major open mic nights that a lot of Philly Singer Songwriters exclusively go to. Every Monday night Fergie’s upstairs bar is packed with a host of Philly musics finest, and they often have full jam sessions. Fergies

World Cafe Live – every Monday Night World Cafe Live plays home to the Philly Rising Open Mic night hosted by Boy Wonder. Artists check in at 6:30pm to sign up for a 2-song performance slot. Performances begin at 7:30pm and, each performance is judged by a panel that includes someone from the WCL music department, the manager on duty and a representative from sponsors. Connie’s Ric Rac – Every Monday Night Connie’s Ric Rac has it’s Open Mic Jam. They have a special guest host each month, and the venue is B.Y.O.B. so you can bring a six pack of your favorite beer. Full band participation is encouraged. Connies Ric Rac

Milk Boy Coffee – Every Tuesday Alec Stewart hosts Milk Boy’s open mic night. Sign Up begins at 6pm, and they can only showcase 15 slots so each performer has a chance to do 2 songs. The Raven Lounge – Every Tuesday The Raven Lounge hosts it’s open mic night on there second floor. Sign Up starts at 9pm, and they have DJ Lexx spinning old school hip hop & funk on the 1st floor. Raven Lounge

McShea’s – next to Milk Boy this might just be the best open mic night in the suburbs. They have $10 pitchers of beer and a late night menu to go along with it. And every Thursday night it brings in a well rounded mix of musicians. McShea\'s

The Fire – On most regular nights The Fire is a bar that hosts some of Philadelphia’s finest musicians. But Monday is the night were you have the chance to take the same stage that has hosted the likes of My Chemical Romance, Rilo Kiley, and Tegan and Sara! sign up starts promptly at 8pm, and a number of musicians who play The Fire on a regular basis normally come to test out some new songs among friends.
