In t he early days of the Rave scene in 1991\, Dan would play multiple parties e very throughout the weekends ending it at his own legendary afterhours club \, No-Doz. He has been setting trends in dance music ever since. \n \nIn 19 93\, Dan sought to push the boundaries even further. After a move to San Fr ancisco\, he and two friends formed the now legendary group\, Funky Tekno T ribe. Through an innovative and clever approach to marketing double pack mi xes of his live sets from the Funky Tekno Tribe\, he was one of the first t o user in the wave of mixtape culture that became dominant throughout the 9 0’s electronic music scene. This marked the start of the burgeoning Break beat craze that Dan pioneered by combining House\, Breakbeat dubs and Techn o into a psychedelic fusion dubbed as the "West Coast House Sound". \n \nAs demand for his DJ skills continued to come in from the four corners of the globe\, Dan began dedicating more time to original productions. His 1995 s ingle\, "Loose Caboose\," by the Electroliners (a collaboration with Jim Ho pkins)\, proved one of the definitive tracks of the breakbeat era. Later\, his 1998 classic "That Zipper Track\," on DJ Dan Presents Needle Damage\, p ut a fresh new spin on the genre\, and his #1 Billboard Club Hit “That Ph one Track” (2003) proved a new level of maturity in his studio aesthetic. It is no surprise that visionary artists come to Dan looking to tap into h is unique sound\, Dan's remix discography reads like a “who's who” in t he industry. With remixes of artists such as Depeche Mode\, New Order\, The Pussycat Dolls\, and A Tribe Called Quest\, as well as his remix of Orgy's cover of "Blue Monday" earning him his first Platinum record in 1999. \n \ nKeeping a firm finger on public tastes and new sounds while rising above f leeting trends\, has allowed Dan to remain ahead of the pack over the cours e of his career. Playing a staggeringly diverse array of venues and festiva ls across the globe such as Amnesia in Ibiza\, Cream in Liverpool\, Pacha i n Buenos Aires\, London's Ministry Of Sound\, Gatecrasher\, Fabric\, Coache lla\, the Love Parade\, Virgin Fest\, Mayday-Berlin\, Creamfields\, Ultra M usic Festival\, and SAMC\, the list is endless. Carl Cox handpicked Dan to join him on his 2000 Phuture tour of Africa and Europe\, while Moby recruit ed him to join an all-star line-up including David Bowie\, Busta Rhymes\, T iesto\, and John Digweed on the Area2 Tour. In 2008\, Dan embarked on a Nor th American tour promoting his own innovative label "InStereo Recordings"\, inviting Donald Glaude along for a historic 2x4 DJ set. \n \nIn 2009\, Dan released his debut artist album entitled "Future Retro". In celebration of Dan's pioneering history\, he has created something special with this albu m. A two part offering in one\; selecting songs that influenced him along t he way and recreating them with a sonic context of the present\, as well as an assortment of fresh new originals. A bone fide global chart smash in the making\, it’s surprising just how far a bit of ‘fun’ can go. \n \nGoing back to 1994 Eric became the drummer in a synt h band called ‘Enemy Alliance’\, touring Sweden and dreaming of becomin g the next Kraftwerk. He jacked his job in\, hooked up with two friends who had a small studio set up making more pop based material and lived the nex t two years virtually penniless - working on his own hard-hitting\, techno- funk tracks and DJing locally when gigs came up. \n \nEric’s first releas e came about almost by accident. Having made a bunch of new material solely on a Roland MC-505 Groovebox he gave a cassette to a friend who ran a clot hing store in Stockholm. Eventually finding its way to the London offices o f EMI’s New Religion\, in 2000 they released ‘By Your Side’/Mr. Jingl es’ and Eric was at last on the hallowed grooves of black vinyl. \nAfter the success of that initial release\, EMI moved Eric to their flagship danc e label Credence. A remix of the boogie bassline driven ‘Mr Jingles’ to gether with two new tracks followed and ‘EP1’ formed the first of three hugely successful releases. By the time ‘EP3’ came around\, Eric had d eveloped into one of the hottest names in house music and the original vers ion of ‘Slammin’ from EP3 became the biggest instrumental tune on Ibiza in the summer of 2003. As an in demand producer the remix offers were flyi ng in. Defining moments like his work on fellow Swede Steve Angello’s ‘ Voices’ & Woz Not Woz firmly established Eric’s trademark electronic so und and he went on to remix the likes of The Shapeshifter’s\, Alter Ego\, Pet Shop Boys and Switch to name but a few. \n \nThen things went a bit cr azy… A record that he made to play out for friends in Stockholm that samp led a vocal hook from Stevie Winwood’s ‘Valerie’ became a local club anthem off the back of just six dub plates. A year later in 2004 ‘Call on Me’ was out on Ministry of Sound’s Data imprint\, topping half the nat ional charts of Europe and remaining at number 1 for six weeks in the UK\, generating sales of over 2.5 million units worldwide. \nAs Mouseville Recor ds and Pryda Recordings continue to deliver the dance floor goods\, Eric Pr ydz is now one of the worlds’ most in demand underground DJ’s and Produ cer’s. This charming tradition\, once performed at teahouses\, wedding s and parties\, was almost completely lost in the home country since the ri se of Taliban rule. It is making a comeback through the contributions of Af ghan expatriates and dance scholars like Olimdjon.
