Voltaire Headlining the One-Year Anniversary Party for Philly Steampunk Event, Dorian’s Parlor!

For the past year, the place to be to experience steampunk and neo-Victorianism has been Philadelphia! Dorian’s Parlor, a monthly steampunk event held in the heart of downtown Philadelphia, has offered fashion, food, drinks, music, comedy, contortionists, vendors, readings, door prizes, awesome DJs, and so much more.

To celebrate their upcoming one-year anniversary, the folks at Dorian’s Parlor are pulling out all the stops! In addition to featuring a performance by This Way to the Egress, and hosting the official debut of G.D. Falksen’s new novel, Blood In The Skies, Dorian’s Parlor has invited the one and only Voltaire to headline the event!

Voltaire is practically synonymous with geekdom, goth culture, filk, fashion, cabaret, and even animation. He’s a true renaissance man. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing him several times at Dragon*Con, a huge fandom convention held every year in Atlanta. Having him here in Philly is beyond awesome! Kudos to the Dorian’s Parlor folks for making that happen.

If you’ve never made it out to a Dorian’s Parlor event before, this is not one to miss. Trust me. You’ll kick yourself if you don’t come out for it.

The Dorian’s Parlor one-year anniversary event is being held this weekend, July 16, from 8pm to 1am, at The Doubletree Hotel. Tickets can be purchased in advance at doriansparlor.com. Tickets are just $25.00 in advance or at the door, and include entry, Hors D’oeuvres, and 1 drink ticket. This is a 21+ event, and proper ID is required.

This event will feature performances by This Way to the Egress, HVBRIS, and Voltaire, music by DJ Dave Ghoul, the debut of G.D. Falksen’s new novel, Blood In The Skies, the debut of Steampunk Hello Kitty t-shirts, a fashion show featuring The House of Carney, door prizes, and even a proper birthday celebration.

Dorian’s Parlor is sponsored by production company CircuitSix (who is gracious enough to keep sending CultureMob to cover this awesome event). Thanks CircuitSix! Hope to see some of you there!
