You Had Me at Giant Dance Floor
I really love the ShowBox SoDo! My two favorite parts of a club, the bar area and dance floor, are both HUGE and the space doesn't have the snotty air of the original Showbox. What can I say, I'm a sucker for exposed wooden beams. The staff are all super nice once you make the effort to meet them and know their names (which you always do, right?), the drinks are average in price for Seattle as well as the bathrooms. The sound is a little on the crappy side, a bit too much reverberation for me. Parking of course is a frickin' disaster, but park about 5 or 6 blocks away and walk your lazy self and all is good (AND get a Krispy Kreme on the way).

ShowBox SoDo: So-So
The Showbox SoDo has hella room for big acts, however the sound quality of the venue is nowhere near as good as it's sister, the original Showbox (or Showbox at the Market for anyone who really doesn't have a clue). The beers are a little on the pricey side, however it's the Showbox so this shouldn't come as a surprise. Drinks are served up with panache by the bartender, and with a few improvements on sound, the Showbox SoDo will become a much better venue for us music-crazy Seattleites who do truly care about the sound, and I'm not just talking about Puget.

If you go to SoDo, go to Showbox SoDo
The Showbox SoDo is the best venue in the area- I mean, Motor? Studio Seven? Are you kidding me? I need room to drink and dance AND see the show; plus there is the old raver-raver feel from the venue which makes you SO glad you're not sitting at the stodgy Triple Door drinking a $15 martini.
