The Laughs are on the Level at the Comedy Underground

I am working up the nerve to do open mic night at The Comedy Underground in Pioneer Square; most Sundays and Mondays they open up the stage for amateurs to get laughed with and at. I can't help but think that the appeal of these open mic nights is a bit too American Idolesque in the fact that sometimes the public wants to see people on stage not to perform beautifully but rather to screw up and be slammed by the audience. How do you get chosen to be on stage? Bring a couple of paying friends and this will help your chances (and your friends will at least ALWAYS laugh AT you, if not WITH you); however be advised that "loners with demonic tattoos on their buttocks" will be given lowest performance priority during open mic nights. The rest of the week The Comedy Underground has professional funny people doing their thing, so get out there and laugh!

I went to the Comedy Underground last Thursday for the first time, and I laughed my pants off- an hour and a half of hilarity for $6? What? Be sure to sit up front so the comedians can make fun of you and your friends, which is really the best part. You might want to sneak in some rum or something though because we didn't get drinks until halfway through the show- however I do think they were understaffed or something; there was only one waitress in the room. Great laughs!
