Life of the Mind
This really is a meeting place for various threads of the greatest San Francisco traditions. On the one hand, one sort of expects to see crowds of bookshoppers in tie-dye or dreadlocks, digging through piles of alternative graphic novels full of ironic social commentary. On the other hand, there is an abundance of highminded liberal NPResque literature and its accoutrements. Basically, if I ever feel that my education quotient is slipping, I'll just hang out in the general vicinity of these bookshelves and absorb some intellectual culture by osmosis.
