The Triple Door, Double Loves, Single Girl
The Triple Door near Pike Place Market combines two of the great loves of my life: music and food. At Seattle's premier dinner theater the venue itself is secondary to the experience created by the melange of rich, Asian-inspired foods and random musical acts from Hawaiian dance performances to pop bands to symphony orchestras. A night at The Triple Door is a classy experience, perfect fodder for people who actually go on dates or want to treat visiting friends to a lovely Seattle evening out on the town.
From the ticket seller to the doorman to the coat checker to the waiter, the workers at The Triple Door are nice, and not in that fake-smile but I really HATE customers way. They really enjoy working at the Seattle icon and told me so. The space inside is warm, dark and uncrowded; an intimate and low-key setting, very romantic. Nothing really stands out about the physical theater itself, which is the perfectly unobtrusive contributor to the ethos The Triple Door is trying to create. It's all about the experience, a night of sharing food and entertainment with friends and lovers.
The Triple Door is cozy, like you are just chilling with friends in your living room on couch cushions, drinking fantastic martinis all the while. Come hungry and thirsty to this venue, because the menu WILL entice you to indulge with treats like pistachio-cream s'mores with homemade graham cracker and szechuan caramel sauce. I certainly couldn't resist an appetizer, dessert, and another martini.
Which brings me back: The Triple Door is a place to bring your sweetie pie. Find a show you are interested in, buy tickets in good seats and do it up right. This is the place to indulge, relax, eat well and enjoy the show. Not that you can't do that alone, I do all the time, but it would just be a little better to cozy up to someone and add one more element to the food and music combination: free drinks. Oops, I think I meant love. Treat your sweetie soon at the Triple Door, Seattle's living room.
