The Roseland Theater is one of Portland's main venues for performances by touring national rock acts. With excellent sound and a big balcony for seeing shows from the Insane Clown Posse to Method Man, The Roseland Theater provides new musical experiences for Portlanders to enjoy every week.
The historic venue has enjoyed performances from Bob Dylan to Megadeath to the Pretenders; the list goes on and on of the mad talented artists who have graced the stage. Probably the most popular and famous place for live music in Portland, the Roseland Theater is not just a building, it is a community gathering place for the music-obsessed and the people who put up with them.
Comfortable seats and air conditioning make for a pleasant experience, and the friendly Portlanders complete the scene with their indie-ness and green character. The Roseland Theater will no doubt continue to feed the thriving live music scene of the city, and anyone visiting Portland should definitely consider a big night out whether the music act is punk, grunge, indie, pop, or electronic- the Roseland Theater hosts them all.

The Roseland Rocks!
I love this venue! It's the best place in Portland to see a big show, whether it is low-key or off the hook. Great sound!

I love the balcony area, it is a nice place to get away from the mania but still have a great view and feel like you are in the middle of the performance.

The Roseland is a true Portland icon, yeah, but the staff here are way to jumpy and aggressive- come on, it's Portland not Detroit! The pat-downs, the lines, the gruff militancy- it just sucks. I only still buy tickets to the Roseland Theatre because of the big names they pull in.

Roseland Theatre
Sorry, but a live music venue that is filled up with rows of seats? Not so much. And the metal detectors? WTF? Where are we, Compton? And I will never understand why they cram the drinkers (85% of the crowd) into the tiny bar area just to make it all ages. Ah well, I will still go to the Roseland Theatre because they bring the big names.

Roseland Theater
...is dirty. Very dirty. It is a death trap waiting to catch fire and burn down, which would be good for all of humankind as long as the place was empty, of course.
All of Portland has a love/hate relationship with the Roseland- we love the shows, hate the venue. The Roseland Theatre is a necessary evil.
