CultureMob › Philadelphia › Art › The Avett Brothers and Patty Griffin to Appear at Appel Farm Arts & Music Festival 2010
Can’t wait until fall for the famous Philadelphia Folk Festival? Check out the annual Appel Farm Arts & Music Festival in early June. Located in Elmer, New Jersey, WXPN deejays Michaela Majoun and Gene Shay will emcee the event this year. This family-friendly event focuses on music and crafts with an emphasis on displaying and teaching the arts.
Music
Appel Farm is the area’s best location for folk and bluegrass music in June. The Avett Brothers appeal to both the traditional folk and mainstream audience and have reached top spot on the Billboard folk charts.

Singer/songwriter Patty Griffin will also perform at the event. A native of Maine, Griffin always remains popular with Philadelphia area audiences and her music has been covered by popular acts such as The Dixie Chicks and Kelly Clarkson.
Canadian Celtic rock group Enter the Haggis are also featured at the event—a band of particular interest to the twenty-something crowd (Who could ever forget their name—or their music?) The diversity of music present at this year’s festival will undoubtedly bolster attendance at Appel Farm.
Craft Fair
Appel Farm also features a juried arts show during its festival. Those showing here are selected artists who have passed the aesthetic and quality requirements. Artists are limited to a number of 50.
