The 50 Best Traveling Road Trip Songs Ever

2 258

Music is always needed for road trips!

In 1999 I evacuated from the city of Savannah, Georgia to escape Hurricane Floyd, along with hundreds of thousands of other Low Country residents. I had nothing but the radio to soothe myself and the two young beasts (kids) in the back seat. Fly Away by Lenny Kravitz played at least a dozen times during that interminable drive, and it now tops my personal list of road trip songs.

Music is subjective, and everyone has favorite genres, artists and songs, but it’s easy to get a majority of people to agree that a majority of these songs belong on this list. Most of the songs on the list appear on other lists as well. They’re here because they relate to the theme of traveling, cars, roads and highways, and because, for the most part, they’ve stood the test of time. Load them up, roll down the windows and enjoy.
