StarChefs Features Washington, DC Area for 2010 Rising Star Awards and Names 20 of Area’s Brightest Culinary Professionals

2941’s Executive Chef Bertrand Chemel leads 20 Rising Star Awardees of the Washington, DC-Baltimore Area.

Since its inception in 2003, online culinary magazine StarChefs.com has held its “Rising Stars” award in only several select cities across the country each year.  Washington, DC has once again demonstrated that it is a major culinary city, having been chosen three times (including 2010)—only surpassed by New York City.  The Rising Stars were nominated by StarChefs advisory board and editorial research, previous award winners, local media, and online submission of nominations.  For details regarding the criteria and categories of awards, click here.

Headlined by 2941 Restaurant’s Executive Chef Bertrand Chemel and Top Chef Season 6 contestant Bryan Voltaggio of Volt Restaurant, 20 Washington, DC-Baltimore area chefs, mixologists, and sommeliers were recently named 2010 “Rising Star” for their excellence in the kitchen, strong culinary philosophy and ambition as well as sharing of knowledge with the culinary community.  For the complete list, see below.

These 20 awardees will receive their award at the 2010 Washington, DC Area Rising Stars Revue on the rooftop of Charlie Palmer Steak (101 Constitution Avenue Northwest, Washington, DC) on October 26, 2010 from 7:00-10:00pm (VIP reception begins at 6:00pm), where the winning chefs, mixologists, and sommeliers will be showcasing their signature savory dishes and wine/beer pairings.  Tickets for the gala are $95/person (or $150/person for VIP tickets which include special pre-event reception, champagne, Petrossian caviar, and first taste of the Rising Stars’ culinary magic).  To purchase tickets, click here.
