San Diego Asian Film Festival 2011

 

The San Diego Asian Film Festival will be having its twelfth season, running from October 20-28, of showcasing amazing Asian cinema. The event will take place at the Mission Valley Ultra Star Cinemas, and the festival kicks off in only a couple of days. The San Diego Asian Film Festival is one of the largest film exhibitions of its kind in North America, with over 160 films in rotation that come from 21 countries.

At the eight-day event, there will be more than a hundred filmmakers, actors, and industry guests scheduled to attend and talk about their love of cinema, including Kelly Hu (the Scorpion King, Almost Perfect), Edison Chen (Hong Kong Actor/Singer), Sung Kang (Fast Five), Harry Shum Jr (Glee), C.S. Lee (Dexter) and many more! If you love film, whether you watch it, make it, write it, shoot it or a mix of all of the above, then this is an event to catch. Opening night will be Thursday, October 20 and there will be a screening of Almost Perfect, starring Kelly Hu, who is scheduled to attend along with director Bertha Bay-Sa Pan.

There are many wonderful, gripping , intelligent films to look out for in the San Diego Asian Film Festival, some of them being Almost Perfect, Cold Fish, Bang Bang, and A Boy and his Samurai. There will also be free screenings at 4pm for particular films, and the screenings are open to the public. In addition to the films, there will be Q & A’s, a live music showcase, the Gala Awards Event with a Lifetime Achievement award going to Nancy Kwan and much more!
