Winston's

Small Venue Packs a Big Punch

Winstons is crowded on almost every night you visit. The locals are in abundance, happy hour lasts until the live performances begin, and there is no better place to catch a live show. The musicians are great but they are not too famous yet.

The bar (cash only) options range from premium alcohol to 12 delicious libations on tap… and the bartenders are generous. The décor glows under backlights, the dance floor crowds up quickly, and somehow the staff managed to pack a pool table into the mix.

Things inside sometimes might seem chaotic but there are a variety of events aside from the live music, that make it all worthwhile; Karaoke Sunday nights and Think and Drink Trivia Tuesday to name a few.

If you are looking for a great time at a place where people are concerned with two things, good music and good drinks, no drama and no image complex, Winstons is the bar for you.

No shows - No Alcohol - No Sexy Appeal - Just Good O'l Gambling

Vegas is more than gambling, it’s a ridiculous abundance of alcohol, clubs, restaurants, shows and the overly exaggerated luxury - Indian casinos are for the real gamblers.

Sycuan is one of the best. Whether you are testing your bluffing skills in the poker room that is second in size only to Ocean’s 11, playing it safe with Bingo, or bunkering down on one of their many slot machines, you are bound to get your gambling fix.

Be weary of roulette and craps though, thanks to a California state law, these games incorporate cards… and if you ask me change the odds; can you guess in whose favor?

Other than that you will find all of your favorite casino games eagerly awaiting your buy-in; and for all of you non-smokers, Sycuan offers a smoke free environment in almost half of their casino.

Best of all though, most San Diegans will find themselves at most an hour away from home. And with no alcohol to blur your decision making you are more likely to go home on top even when you lose.

Sex and the City

When a series ends much sooner than it’s’ fan base would prefer a follow up a film will inevitably succeed in the box office. When it came to the four women holding the screen Sex and the City, the movie was a complete success.

The dialogue, the chemistry, and the humor between the women was everything you fondly remember about the series, or if you are like me, the type of moments you enjoy reliving through TBS or the DVD collections.

At the center of the film of course, was Carrie and Big’s relationship – and this sadly was a disappointment. At the end of the series, after several seasons of heartbreaks and heated sexual encounters between the two, Big chases Carrie to Paris, wins her back and they share a long anticipated kiss as he says, “It’s always been you.”

However, for some reason at the center of the film we find Carrie and Big’s relationship, tested yet again – complete lack of originality. Surprising though, the movie makes up for its shortcomings through Miranda and Samantha’s relationships with Steve and Smith. And even though I was not entirely happy with the film, I am sure it will not be the last time I see it. Hell… I will probably buy it on DVD.
