Blind Pig & the 8Ball

This is one of Ann Arbor's classic dives. It's a good place to see a show; small with reasonably good sound. If you get bored at the show, head downstairs to the 8ball for darts and pool.

Batman re-envisioned again. Dark Knight looks like a timely play on our fears of terrorism. Superheros have grown-up along with us.

Guillermo's visual sense fits the Hellboy universe like a rock glove (that's a good thing).

tasty yet cheap eats in the sun. make sure you don't eat too much before getting on the rollercoaster.

Iron Man rules with a fist

Despite much hype Iron Man didn't disappoint, largely due to the brilliant casting of Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow. Tony Stark is the asshole of superheroes with a host of character defects such as drug addiction and promiscuity. Sound like anyone you know?

When I told Ms Sunshine we should go see Iron Man because I know how much she likes Robert Downey Jr, it took half a click for her to realize the misdirection around my desire to see most any superhero movie.

start it up

this was a different format than the usual. got to hear from various start-up "experts". lots of energy bundles and young turks.

Used to smell like smoke and stale beer

Now it just smells like stale beer. Is that an improvement? You'll have to have been there before and after to decide. In any event, it's a great hole in the wall and a hoppin' section of Capital Hill. About a bajillion clubs within a butts-throw. Get your drink on here and then go dance at Neighbours or get all jittery and Caffe Vita.
