The Monks are one of my favorite obscure 60s discoveries.

Inside information
I have some inside information on this show: it's going to be awesome. Brian Kooser is known for his visually strong stage direction and design. The plot is both completely distorted and historically accurate. There will be both shadow-screen puppetry and live electronic music and foley. Lot's to see! Come check it out!

Jahcoozi
This is the one showcase in the dB Fest that I'm looking forward to the most.

Fantastic Pairing
Somebody got it right putting these two together. I have no doubts this will be a great show.
I get to see two rising stars in one night -- I'll be there.
Janeane Garofalo
Performing Artist; Actor; Comedian

My crush on Janeane Garofalo has caused me to unconsciously date a series of women who resemble her in some way.
Squeeze
Music: Blues, Jazz, Pop, Rock
Comment by: Chadwick Dahlquist
I love Squeeze! Now, if only I could see them at a small pub in England, rather than a $40 show at the Showbox. Those 40 dollars must buy you 5 encores of "Pulling Mussels."

This picture makes me laugh
It sums up Folklife perfectly.
Prince vs. Michael
Music: Club, Dance, Rock
Comment by: Chadwick Dahlquist
Prince is the true artist
While MJ is the highest expression of pop mastery, Prince is the true artist. Both can rock the dance floor equally, but Prince does so while actually having something to say, lyrically and musically.
No Kids

Strange, stiff, white-guy soul. There was something really endearing and cool about watching these guys do their thing, opening for Dirty Projectors (which was a great combo).
Autechre
Music: Alternative, Club, Dance, Electronic, House, Rock
Comment by: Chadwick Dahlquist
I've heard these guys actually put on a good show, despite their extremely cerebral recording material. They did come up in the UK Electro scene, so I'm expecting some semi-stable beats.
Admittedly, I'm also interested in just checking out their gear.
Bowie vs. T-Rex Night
Music: Dance, House
Comment by: Chadwick Dahlquist
I heard about this. The Comet posted a call for performers on Craigslist. I was thinking about doing it with my friend Matt.
I didn't realize it was a competition. I thought it was just some T.Rex covers.
In any case, this should be really fun. I'm certainly going whether performing or not.
Seattle Symphony: PLAY! A Video Game Symphony
Art: Classical, Multimedia
Comment by: Chadwick Dahlquist
I know it's an obvious play at attracting younger audiences to the symphony, but man this sounds great.
A lot of game music is overlooked because of the medium it's presented on. There's a lot of sophisticated stuff that came out of the limitations of early hardware.
If those limitations are stripped away, will it still sound good?
Seattle Opera: Pagliacci
Theater: Drama, Opera
Comment by: Chadwick Dahlquist
I'll be going to the show on the 16th. I've never seen an opera before. I've only ever experienced it in the context of recorded music and I've never much liked it (opera in general). I'm looking forward to understanding how attending the event can change the experience.
Lake Union Civic Orchestra: Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D Major
Music: Classical
Comment by: Chadwick Dahlquist
D Major is one of my favorite keys! Joy!
Dan Deacon
Music: Rock
Comment by: Chadwick Dahlquist
Ultimate Reality
This is not just going to be your average extreme maximalist awesomenessist of a Dan Deacon performance. He's coming back to Seattle as part of the Ultimate Reality tour. Deacon will be performing live music over Jimmy Joe Roche's cartoon psychedelic Schwarzenegger mashup projections. I'd rather get hit on the head with an anvil than miss this show.
You must come. Even if you don't have the best time of your entire life, you'll at least gain insight into your genetic potential for epileptic seizures.

I've heard good things about this group. The little bit of music I heard was a cool combination of metal and proto-metal with a garage sound.
