About This Movie

Lazy stoner Dale Denton has only one reason to visit his equally lazy dealer Saul Silver: to purchase weed, specifically, a rare new strain called Pineapple Express. But when Dale becomes the only witness to a murder by a crooked cop and the city's most dangerous drug lord, he panics and dumps his roach of Pineapple Express at the scene. Dale now has another reason to visit Saul: to find out if the weed is so rare that it can be traced back to him. And it is. As Dale and Saul run for their lives, they quickly discover that they're not suffering from weed-fueled paranoia; incredibly, the bad guys really are hot on their trail and trying to figure out the fastest way to kill them both. All aboard the Pineapple Express.

Pineapple Express

The new film from the brains behind "Superbad" (that would be the comedy writing of Seth Rogen and good friend Evan Goldberg) bring us a new film, this time about a pot-smoking court processor (played by Rogen) and his affable dealer (James Franco). While there's not much of an actual plot in the film (Rogen's character witnesses a crime, he tells Franco's character, hilarity ensues), the best thing going for "Pineapple Express" is the performance from James Franco. Known in the mainstream for his performances in the "Spider-Man" films and his Golden-Globe winning role of James Dean in the made-for-tv film, Franco eschews his former persona of a dark and brooding actor for that of a lovable drug dealer. This is a guy who spends the majority of the film concerned over the safety of his grandmother! The film itself is decent enough (and fans of over-the-top fights in stoner films will definitely get a kick out of the film's last twenty minutes), it is James Franco's performance that will leave the biggest impression of all.
