PHIT’s Fundraiser Campaign: Supporting Comedy in Philadelphia
Do you like to laugh? Rhetorical question: of course you do. If you didn’t, I’d suspect you are some kind of android and must be destroyed. How would you like the opportunity to laugh every night of the week? “Laugh every day?! Even Tuesdays, the most unfunny day of the week?! Luke, how can this be? Surely this must be some kind of trick!” Oh, I assure you, my kind readers, this is neither trick nor hoax nor elaborate plot. The Philly Improv Theater is the premier alternative comedy destination in the city and they are about to turn this mother all the way up to 11! PHIT is in the midst of a $10,000 fundraising campaign to secure themselves a permanent space in the city. Philadelphia is the only top 10 city in the country that does not have a space dedicated solely to improv, sketch, and stand-up comedy. A permanent space for PHIT means permanent chuckles for you and your friends!
So here is what you can do to help. Visit PHIT’s Kickstarter Site and consider donating to the campaign. After creating a Kickstarter account, you can make a donation as small as $1. At any time during the campaign, you can alter your donation amount if you decide you want to add more later. Your donation will only be taken if the $10,000 total is reached by June 26th. If $50,000 is earned by the end of this year, that total will be matched by a generous anonymous donor! That’s a lot of hooch! Don’t have any extra income right now? Well, forward this to any rich people that you know! I have it on good authority that rich people LOVE having their names on plaques! The success of this campaign would be a considerable boost to the comedy scene in Philadelphia and would put PHIT on the comedic map right next to The Second City in Chicago and The Upright Citizens Brigade in New York City.
