Sheryl Crow might be the act act to spark some fireworks during Philadelphia’s Welcome America spectacular on the the evening of the 4th. But since Uwishunu just broke that hometown heroes The Roots are the other big band to play this year it looks she won’t be the only one making some explosions during it. But that’s not all going on this year because Philadelphia has a whole line up of things going on this 4th of July that are sure to make some serious noise!
The bad news for last weeks 2nd Street Festival was that The Sync Stage at The Piazza, which was presented by Philebrity and Vitamin Water got rained out. But that spells good news for the 4th of July because that’s when it was postponed to, and your bound to be seeing the same amazing lineup more or less. It should be ending just in time for the fireworks, and once it does be sure to make it over to Johnny Brenda’s where you’ll catch Jay Reatard playing a twisted set courtesy of R5 Productions.
The Friday beforehand not only gives you the chance to eat all of the ice cream that you possibly can (also happening on Sunday), but give you the chance to catch Peter Nero and the Philly Pops. you can also go to the airport and meet a bunch of Philadelphia baseball legends.
On the smaller scale Tritone and Bob & Barbara’s join forces to host the 3rd Annual Independence Day Extravaganza. $10 gets you admission to both bars and all of the BBQ that you can eat. it also gets you music by Stinking Lizaveta, The Spades, and more. Be sure to go back to Tritone on the 4th though so you can catch Radio Eris and Seizure 17 play after the fireworks if you’re in that area!
No matter how you look at it Fourth Of July in Philadelphia is detined to be more then just a parade (although we have that too!). So there’s enough to make your celebration go off with a bang!
