Matmos always reminds me of the story of how Spielberg used the sound of a sliding toilet tank lid for the epic moment in Raiders of the Lost Ark when the top of the Ark of the Covenant was removed (and everybody's faces melted off).

And Speilberg's wife's macaroni and cheese casserole provided the squishy sounds in the trash compactor scene in Star Wars where Leia and the gang are all about to be a lot thinner.

I spent way too much of my childhood experimenting with sound effects into a cassette recorder and making up stories to try and fool my family; a toilet lid and mac n cheese is brilliant but has NOTHING on the shit that Matmos lays down.

But then again maybe Spielberg didn't have access to the sounds of liposuction surgery or cow vaginas.
