Harry Potter: The Exhibition opened this past Saturday October 23, 2010 at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle and will run until January 30, 2011. The Exhibit contains costumes, movie props, and creature models covering the first six Harry Potter films. The collection of items offered in the exhibit is monumental, as it contains hundreds of items used to bring the characters and creatures to life in the movies.

I journeyed into the world of Harry Potter on the opening day of the exhibition. I went not as a fan of the franchise, but as an enthusiast of the detail and work that goes into creating these costumes, models and props.  The exhibits are presented to the public in an elaborate way by dividing the exhibits into themes. The Staff and Professors of Hogwarts are throughout the exhibit, with each one getting individual sections with the costumes and props used to give their characters life in the films. Guests will get a glimpse of  the darkside of the films by coming face to face with the Dementors, Death Eaters, Voldemort\’s costume and wand, The Statue of the Riddle Grave Site, Bellatrix Lestrange\’s costumes and wand, and many others.

Visitors will observe the life size creature models of the Centaurs, the Griffin, Dobby, the spiders, and many more used in the movies. The cabin of Hagrid, Harry’s and Ron’s room at Hogwarts, and parts of Hogwarts Great Hall are all on display. The costumes, flying broomstick and quidditch balls using during the quidditch matches are in the exhibit as well. This is only a glimpse into what Harry Potter: The Exhibition has to offer. If you\’re a Harry Potter fan, have a passion for film, a Costume Designer or love props used for practical effects then the Exhibition will be well worth the price of admission.

The Pacific Science Center has the visitors purchase the specific time they will be entering the Exhibition. Times are available every 15 minutes between 10:00am to 4:00pm and 10:00am to 7:00pm on Friday and Saturdays. Tickets prices are $26 per adult, $24 for ages 6-15 and Senior citizens, and $17 for ages 3-5. Guests can get into the exhibit cheaper on Fridays and Saturdays between 6:00pm and 7:00pm, as prices for these hours are $19 for adults, $15 for ages 6-15 and senior citizens, and $13 for ages 3-5. Tickets can be purchased on the website of the Pacific Science Center or at the Ticket Booth at the Center.
