Guillermo del Toro in Portland Sept. 29th

Guillermo del Toro, Oscar-nominated writer and director of popular and critically acclaimed films such as Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy, and The Devil’s Backbone, is currently on a tour to promote his new book, The Fall, co-written by Chuck Hogan (author of Prince of Thieves, which was adapted into the motion picture The Town, currently in theaters).

The Fall, released September 21st in the U.S., is the second book in what will be the vampire epic The Strain Trilogy. Booklist said of the first installment: “[Y]ou should expect to wait in breathless anticipation for volume 2. With a movie likely in the offing, this could become the next big horror franchise.”

Del Toro will be in Portland this Wednesday, September 29th, 7:00pm, at the Bagdad Theater. Tickets ($26.99) include a copy of the book, and are available at the Bagdad Theater, the Crystal Ballroom, and Ticketmaster. The event is co-sponsored by Powell’s Books and the Northwest Film Center’s School of Film.
