Sometimes you just want to bring a novel to life. Such is the case with Seattle author Lisa Cach’s new young adult title, Wake Unto Me, which is set for release on March 31. Cach has teamed up with prominent geocacher David Simpson to create a geocache puzzle that’s inspired by the intricate treasure hunt in her new book. The treasure hunt went live today, with the cache located somewhere in Seattle’s Discovery Park.

Why a geocache for this book? “Because a treasure hunt plays an important role in the story, Cach wrote on her site, “and because — let\’s face it — my last name is Cach. A treasure hunt story with an author named Cach: how could there NOT be a geocache for such a book?”

The multi-cache puzzle name is WAKE UNTO ME and its ID is GC2M29Z. Here\’s a direct link to the puzzle on geocaching.com.

The treasure hunt that Cach created in the book sparked her curiosity about complex puzzle caches. A chance meeting at a geocaching potluck led to her partnership with geocaching enthusiast Simpson, known in geocaching circles by his handle EFHutton. Simpson is known for his “Peace Sign Series” of caches for GeoWoodstock VIII last July. Geocachers use a GPS receiver to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches.” Treasures in the Wake Unto Me cache include copies of the book, travel bugs, jewelry, Third Place Books pens, gift certificates to Secret Garden Books and Mockingbird Books, and various small treasures.

Lisa Cach Wake Unto MeCach is the author of more than 20 books and novellas, but has turned from romance to the young adult genre with this new title. She describes it as “Da Vinci Code meets Twilight, with ghosts instead of vampires.”

Cach\’s stories often take the reader abroad, sometimes in both time and location, and Wake Unto Me is no different. The story’s central character, 15-year-old Caitlyn, is an Oregon girl who is granted a scholarship to a mysterious boarding school housed in a French castle. Caitlyn soon begins having dreams about a 16th century boy, Raphael, and the story follows her unraveling of the mystery of who Raphael was, who or what haunts the castle, and the secret reason she was brought to the school.

Cach, who has twice been a finalist for awards from the Romance Writers of America, is known for stories with a sense of humor and original plots. Early reviews for her latest book celebrate the remarkable plot\’s twists and turns.
