UPDATE: The concert is no longer free, and has been moved to The Chicago Theatre. For more information on the new show, read our post here.
Chicago sure doesn’t have a shortage of free events, especially when it comes to live music during the summer. And who doesn’t love an excuse to head out into the sunny weather and enjoy a concert? Especially when you don’t have to pay!
The latest artist to offer up a free show is Chicago’s own Lupe Fiasco, the hip-hop skater kid who took the airwaves by storm (and earned a few Grammy nods) with his mesmerizing debut album, Food & Liquor.
Lupe will be performing as part of the Nike 6.0 BMX Open in Grant Park. As Chicagoist pointed out, the BMX Open will be happening right next door to the Taste of Chicago this year, so you can grab a funnel cake and turkey leg before heading south to catch some of the finest hip-hop around.
The concert is June 26 in Grant Park just south of Balboa Dr. The show starts at 5:30pm, is all ages, and free.
