"A River" Exhibition
Gallery One is pleased to announce an exciting all media exhibition based on the theme – A River. The benefit art show will lend support to the Harpeth River Watershed Association (HRWA), a non-profit organization devoted to the protection and stewardship of the Harpeth River.
The juried art show features a wide variety of original representational and interpretative art developed by artists representing the gallery, including Rebecca Ruegger, Henry Isaacs, Patrick Adams, Deborah Fritts, and Lendon Noe, as well as new works by several artists new to the gallery. A portion of the proceeds from the benefit will be donated to the HRWA.
The call to artists expressly identified an excerpt from the novel, A River Runs Through It, and other stories, by Norman Maclean, as a source of inspiration for submitted works:
“Eventually all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world’s great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters.”
The exhibition will open with a reception on Thursday, December 3rd from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., and will continue through Saturday, January 16th.
