Sport Clips Announces the Biggest Haircut Day of the Year

Local Minnesota franchises of popular men and boys’ haircutters support the troops on Veterans Day, November 11, 2009

November 1, 2009 – Minneapolis, MN – On November 11, 2009 local Twin Cities’ Sport Clips locations will participate “Biggest Haircut Day of the Year”, a nationwide Sport Clips promotion to support Operation Uplink, a program that offers free call days and calling cards for deployed and hospitalized American soldiers. On Veterans Day Sport Clips locations will donate a dollar for every haircut. Sport Clips began collecting donations for Operation Uplink in each of their locations on October 18th.

“Sport Clips are locally owned and operated, so its important we give back to the communities in which we’re located, “ said Bob Chelberg, area developer for Sport Clips franchises in Minnesota and North Dakota. “In every single neighborhood in Minnesota you’ll find the families and friends of soldiers overseas. We’re giving our customers a chance to get a haircut and do a good deed all at the same time.” Chelberg added that all of the more than 660 Sport Clips locations in the country will participate. Last year Sport Clips raised over 1.7 million minutes for Operation Uplink.

Operation Uplink is a Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) program that keeps military personnel and hospitalized veterans in touch with their families and loved ones. Donation boxes in the stores and proceeds of the Veterans Day event will go towards a goal of connecting more than 60,000 families this holiday season.

Sport Clips locations in Minnesota include Stadium Village in Minneapolis , Maple Grove, Coon Rapids, Blaine, Oakdale, Bloomington, Burnsville and St. Cloud. A new Sport Clips salon opens in Plymouth in November. Sport Clips provides a unique service for men and boys that includes television monitors tuned into sporting events at every station and around the salon. The salons also offer an “MVP” experience including a scalp massage, steamed towel and neck and shoulder massage. Each Sport Clips location is locally owned and operated.
