His screenplay and forthcoming novelization was undertaken with the enthusiastic support of the book's author Maurice Sendak. Eggers first novel, "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius," was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. Since then, he has published What is the What and, most recently, "Zeitoun," a non-fiction account of one New Orleans family in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. His screenwriting credits also include "Away We Go." In 2002, Eggers co-founded a national non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the writing skills of underserved students, and to helping urban teachers inspire their students to write. 826 Boston is the seventh chapter of this organization and offers free writing and tutoring programs in Roxbury's Egleston Square and in Boston public school classrooms. Proceeds from this event help support its mission.More information about 826 Boston can be found at www.826boston.org.826 National and 826 Boston would like to thank the following national sponsors:Warner Bros.
