FLORA THE RED MENACE

Flora the Red Menace is a musical with a book by DavidThompson, music by John Kander and lyrics by FredEbb. The musical originally starred Liza Minnelli in thetitle role in her Broadway debut, for which she won a TonyAward for Best Actress in a Musical. This was the firstcollaboration between Kander and Ebb, who later wroteBroadway and Hollywood hits such asChicagoand Cabaret.  Like Cabaret and Chicago, itfeatures a headstrong heroine with passion and idealism, andhas a strong dose of political content. She falls in love with Harry Toukarian, another strugglingdesigner, who attempts to convert Flora to his Communistideals. Even though it compromises her job in anorganization which does not recognise the new unions, sheseeks to hold down both job and relationship. Throw in apredatory Communist matriarch who wants Harry for herself, asecretary with designs on her boss, and a jazz dancing duowith their sights on greater things, and it has all theright ingredients for a genuinely original and excitingshow.Rising Action has assembled on outstanding cast of musicaltalent under the direction of Kevin Coughlin.  Don't missthe opportunity to see this great show in one of its rareFlorida presentations.Thursdays, Fridays, & Saturdays at 8:00 p.m.;Sunday Matinees at 2:00 p.m.Show Only Tickets - $35.00Show plus Three Course Dinner at Primavera Restaurant(across the street - 830 E.
