The US Air Force Band of Liberty returns to the North End for a ParkARTS Waterfront Concert sponsored by Comcast at Christopher Columbus Park on Saturday, June 27, at 3 p.m., the first show in Mayor Thomas M. Menino’s 2009 ParkARTS live concert season. In anticipation of the nation’s Fourth of July celebrations, the program will feature patriotic favorites performed by the US Air Force Band of Liberty, one of ten Air Force Bands nationwide. Stationed at Hanscom Air Force Base, this group of 60 musicians has been entertaining audiences throughout the New England region and beyond since 1978.The Waterfront Concert is presented by Mayor Thomas M. Menino and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department as part of the 13th annual citywide ParkARTS program sponsored by Bank of America. Christopher Columbus Park is located directly on the waterfront at 110 Atlantic Avenue in the North End.A longtime ParkARTS favorite, the US Air Force Band of Liberty will also be performing at the Dorothy Curran Wednesday Evening Concert Series on City Hall Plaza presenting their special guest Jane Monheit on July 29 and performing with Ann Hampton Callaway on August 12.For more information on these and other ParkARTS events, please call the Boston Parks and Recreation Department at (617) 635-4505 or go to www.cityofboston.gov/parks
