Free Blood Pressure Screenings at Partners HealthCare Boston Health & Fitness Expo
An estimated 26.4 percent of adults in Massachusetts have been informed by their physician that they have high blood pressure. Nationally, an estimated 74 million adults in the U.S. – nearly one in three – suffer from high blood pressure, and approximately 30 percent are not even aware that they have the condition.
To address this public health concern, The Boston Fire Department and IAFF Local 718 will be in attendance at an interactive booth at 7 NBC & CW 56 Partners HealthCare Boston Health & Fitness Expo that is designed to raise awareness of high blood pressure. Visitors to this booth will be able to get their blood pressure checked and take a guided tour through an oversized blood vessel!
The fair will take place at Hynes Convention Center, 900 Boylston Street on Saturday, June 27, 2009 and Sunday, June 28, 2009, 10:00AM – 5:00PM both days. This booth is made available through a collaboration between the International Association of Fire Fighters and Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation. Visit www.stopdropcontrol.com to learn more.
