L.A. Storytellers: My Journey, My Rights
Please join us in celebrating the International Day of Sharing Life Stories. Hosted by Adolfo Guzman Lopez, KPCC Southern California Public Radio
L.A. Storytellers - My Journey, My Rights May 16, 10am to 12 noon Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Fifth Floor Free Admission
SEVEN remarkable life stories written and shared by the people that experienced them.
Readings of journey, challenge, and hope, from Los Angeles to halfway around the world - an elegant life story of a first generation Japanese American in California, a determined quest for wages denied, an old man exiled from his native Chile, a migrant farm worker father as remembered by his daughter, crossing the DMV line in North Carolina, a "military brat" growing up a mile away from the Berlin Wall, and a Palestinian-Jordanian American experiencing unexpected questions in the West Bank.
Free admission, RESERVATIONS REQUIRED - to RSVP, please call (213) 972-2610 no later than May 13. Capacity is limited. Doors open at 10am, light refreshments available. Program begins promptly at 10:30am.
Now in its third year, LA Storytellers, an Active Arts® at the Music Center program, is a unique gathering and sharing opportunity for Angelenos to exchange life stories, vivid memories, oral histories, and engaging experiences, uncovering voices that represent a constantly changing city. http://www.musiccenter.org//events/aa_lastory.html
