This event is the largest and most significant to be held in the Portland area ever and Benefits Ethos Music Center. Headliners this year include The Del McCoury Band, Rhonda Vincent & The Rage, David Grisman Quintet, Marty Stuart, Dan Tyminski, Porter Wagoner, The Flatlanders, Doyle Lawson and Tim O'Brien. Plus regional bands ranging from Jackstraw, Misty River, Cross Eyed Rosie, The Buckles, Whiskey Puppy, Chickweed, Kung Pao Chickens, The Barbeque Orchestra and many more. The RiverCity Bluegrass Festival made its debut in January, 2005 at the Oregon Convention Center. The event was structured to offer approximately 70% bluegrass music and 30% acoustic Americana, such as folk music, Texas swing, Gospel and Country music. Since that weekend we have established a tradition of great performers at each and every festival. 2009 will not be any exception to that standard. The RiverCity Bluegrass Festival is an interactive, community oriented event with many attendees bringing their families and instruments to play (referred to as jamming) in small groups throughout the Festival. There is always something to hear. Workshops for those who want to learn from the masters are offered at no additional charge.
