Katy Bourne / Randy Halberstadt Duo

The dawn of the millennium found Katy singing blues with Seattle bands The Bad Companions, Casalini’s Mob and The Usual Suspects, but studying with Seattle jazz vocalist, Greta Matassa, opened her up to jazz. Now there’s no going back. Katy sings at nightclubs, festivals and private events throughout the Northwest. She has appeared at the Anacortes Jazz Walk, the Edmonds Arts Festival and as part of Earshot’s Art of Jazz Concert series, to name just a few. In 2007, she was a finalist for the Seattle-Kobe Jazz Vocalist Competition, which was held at Dimitriou’s Jazz Alley. Katy is also a freelance writer. She writes a regular column for Seattle Jazz Scene.com and is a frequent contributor to All About Jazz.

Randy Halberstadt has been a major figure on the Pacific Northwest jazz scene for many years. In addition to leading his own trio and producing his own recordings (Inner Voice, Clockwork, and Parallel Tracks), he has performed with many jazz greats. Recently, Randy recorded with Bay area guitarist Mimi Fox and the world renowned Ray Drummond on bass. In 2001, Randy authored an instructional text, Metaphors For The Musician: Perspectives From A Jazz Pianist. His composition "When Springtime Turns To Fall" appears in The All–Jazz Real Book.
