Communication Break Dancing
In the movie My Effortless Brilliance (one of the films in the 2008 Seattle International Film Festival), the director Lynn Shelton created tension that lasted for the length of her film. Sean Nelson and Basil Harris played two friends who explore the true depth of the meaning of a friendship in this well thought out film.
The tension, the vulnerability and the comical dialog made this film uncompromisingly original. I expected to see the character played by Sean Nelson (Harvey Danger) respond differently. You know, like he would respond the way I imagined I would right? Nearly every instance, he did the unexpected. That kept me on my toes. Then there's Jim played by actor Calvin Reeder. Jim seems to live a simple life. His presence adds to the chaos.
In the end, there was no doubt in my mind that this film was well worth the viewing.
