Don’t Miss the Annual Dragon*Con Parade in Atlanta this Labor Day Weekend

Storm Troopers in parade
Dragon*Con is one of the largest pop culture and geek events on the U.S. East coast. It attracts well over 30,000 people to downtown Atlanta, Georgia each Labor Day Weekend. And although it will cost you $100 to get in for the duration of the 4-day convention, one of its biggest and best events is free and open to the public: The Annual Dragon*Con Parade!
Just imagine, if you will, a few hundred stormtroopers from Star Wars marching down Atlanta’s Peachtree Street. I know, it’s a pretty awesome visual.
The parade is being held Saturday, September 4th, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Most people line up along Peachtree Street by the Hyatt-Regency Atlanta hotel. That said, the parade route should wrap around and end at the Marriott Marquis. Be sure to get there early, as it will get pretty crowded! Keep an eye out for specially marked Dragon*Con Disability Services area(s), which are reserved for Dragon*Con attendees with physical limitations.

What can you expect to see during the Dragon*Con parade? Some of the groups that typically participate include the 501st Legion of stormtroopers, Klingons, Harry Potter fans, tons of pirates (last year there was even a pirate ship float), various monsters, Mad Max fans, musicians, and oh so much more. I know I’m personally looking forward to the “Gaggle of GaGas” Lady GaGa group.
Hope to see you there!
