Designer Kristin Costa Drops by Philly’s Dorian’s Parlor

Dorian’s Parlor, the monthly steampunk/Victorian event in Philly, has been going strong since last summer, and if last weekend’s show was any indication, things are only looking up! Each month, Dorian’s features music, readings, performers, and a fashion show, and for January it had an amazing designer named Kristin Costa.

When she’s not busy making costumes and props for commercials, Broadway, photo shoots, and films, she’s putting her heart and soul into her own fashion line. Although not classically steampunk, Costa’s designs exude a similar enough aesthetic and spirit, and the audience at Dorian’s Parlor certainly seemed to be in love with them!

Below are some of my favorite images from the Kristin Costa fashion show at Dorian’s Parlor. Learn more about Costa by visiting her blog, and be sure to mark off your calendar for March 12, 2011, which is the next Dorian’s Parlor event.

Hey! This is a great and super flattering article!

A slight correction though, I never designed wings for Victoria’s Secret, but I worked for Martin Izquierdo, who did. He’s the one responsible for all those great wings, and I’d hate to take credit for that. However, I definitely worked on them, while working in his studio, and learned a great deal about wing making, which has always been one of my favorite activities!

Sorry Kristin! I had thought I got that off your website, but I will update it accordingly. :)
