Boston Folk Musician Jay Psaros Confirms U.S. Tour Dates

Boston Folk Musician/Troubadour Jay Psaros will be bringing a fresh twist on folk and roots music to the U.S. on his second national tour. This summer’s tour begins on May 5th in Portsmouth, NH and includes more than 30 shows in over than half of the fifty U.S. states. The ultimate destination of the tour is Alaska, where he will be playing for a month at various venues from Denali to Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau. On select dates he will be joined by singer/songwriter Olivia Brownlee, on which they will play solo sets as well as a performance together.

Jay is an accomplished acoustic guitarist who will be releasing his sophomore album On up the Road. He is excited to be touring this summer in support of his latest release and his Freshman effort Tripping and Running, both discs released within a year. Back home in Boston, his debut received local praise, achieving “Top Ten Local Albums of 2010″ at the Patriot Ledger with Weymouth News describing his material as, “a soothing selection of tunes that draws from a variety of styles that include folk, rock, jazz and blues.” He was hailed as an “Artist on the Verge” by Boston Radio station WERS 88.9 FM (Emerson College Radio) and has been featured on several other local radio programs. In the past two years, Jay has been proving himself as a talented songwriter and guitarist by developing a strong catalogue of songs and playing hundreds of shows. His music has brought him around the country and back again doing all of his booking/publishing/and writing independently.

His touring mate Olivia Brownlee grew up daughter to the owners of Rockin\’ B Ranch, “the best cowboy supper show in the Pacific Northwest” and would often be part of the show. Olivia moved to Boston three years ago to pursue her Master’s degree in theater education at Emerson College. Since her arrival in Boston, Olivia has been making a name for herself on the east coast as an all around artistic tour de force with involvement in local plays, set design, literary magazines and musical endeavors. She has most recently been thriving in the greater Boston folk scene earning a reputation as a great singer/songwriter with her debut CD Eponymous.

Jay and Olivia met while working at the “Medieval Manor,” renowned renaissance dinner theater and Boston’s longest running show. Jay works at the theater as a “minstrel” and Olivia as a wench. The two quickly began playing the Cambridge open mic scene and gigging regularly throughout the region. In the past year they have independently established themselves as two of Boston’s up-and-coming songwriters and performers with every intention to keep their growing reputation alive.
