Elizabeth Taylor wrote on Twitter that it’s, ‘the single most brilliant piece of filmmaking I have ever seen.’ In case her thoughts weren’t clear she added that she, ‘truly thinks it should be nominated in every category conceivable.’
Most people agree that this movie is well made, has heart and gives a view into a world few saw: Michael Jackson real. I’ve heard people say they never knew he was so funny and smart, and quite frankly so damned talented! The word genius is used all the time for him now, and this movie will cement that. Sure we all know Thriller, but to see what went into getting him there is a treat. Many laughed and cried, all agreed though that Michael Jackson is genius. (And by all I mean across races, ages, cities versus rural, in my poll and readings, the people love it.)
For those of us mere mortals, to peak behind the curtain and see a man in the midst of doing that he does best is a dream. Sadly for us that dream comes true because of his death – this material was never intended as a doc on the final preps for a tour of the great Michael Jackson.
Thankfully though, this movie is around to remind us all, and generations to come of his talent and gifts. That is no small feat, and a fitting final gift from Michael to us all.
