If you had a dime for every time you heard “It’s Greek to me,” you could afford to attend any festival you wanted to. Good thing this weekend’s Greek Music & Food Festival in Somerville won’t cost you a cent. Not one. Well, that is if you just want to go. Supporting the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church—and just chowin’ down on some superb food—will cost you a little bit. But, hey, it’s worth it. It’s not every day you get to savor souvlaki, spanakopita, baklava and other pastries so good, you’ll want to slap your mama for not being Greek.
So, gather up the family and friends for festival activities, live music and delicious grub. The fun kicks off on Friday, September 11 at 5 p.m. Live music starts at 8 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday offer a nearly full day of music and food, with festival doors opening at 12 p.m. and closing at 11 p.m. on Saturday and 9 p.m. on Sunday. With a generous schedule like this, there’s no excuse for missing this year’s Greek Music & Food Festival.
