If you have seen the recently released gangster film Public Enemies, starring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale, you might be wanting to know more about the Chicago gangster scene. Now you can, thanks to the Untouchable Tours.
While watching Public Enemies, you’ve heard plenty of names tossed around like John Dillinger and Baby Face Nelson. And you can’t forget about the most notorious Chicago mobster of all… Al Capone. The Untouchable Tours take you way back to the 1920s and 1930s, to a Chicago that survived the Jazz Age and the era of Prohibition, when the Chicago gangs were at their strongest.
During the two-hour bus tour, you’ll see all the former hangouts of the boys. You may even pass by the alley near the Biograph Theater, where John Dillinger was gun downed in 1934. The six guides go by clever nicknames; some include “Southside,” “Big Julie” and “Ice Pick.”
Tours cost $28, and they are available every day of the week; there are more tours (six) on Saturdays.
