Family event features art and crafts, food and drink, live music,

children’s entertainment and activities

Burlingame, Calif. –Washington Park in Burlingame will transform into an outdoor art gallery, complete with food, music and activities for the entire family during the 41st Annual Art in the Park Festival. The two-day festival, which takes place Saturday and Sunday, June 11 and 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, offers a wide variety of arts and crafts, tempting food, beer and wine, live entertainment and children’s activities.

Among this year’s artists and craftspeople participating in the event is Gabriel Borensztejn of San Francisco who creates wearable art – knitted or felted wraps, shawls, ponchos  as well as handcrafted pins and jewelry that are fun to wear. Gabriel’s clothing incorporates bold colors with elegant designs, while his pins and jewelry are whimsical creations made of metal, glass and ceramic.

Richard and Mary Black of San Jose will be showing their hand-crafted exotic and domestic wood functional pieces of art, consisting of boxes, canes, walking sticks, shaving brushes, and razors. “It’s a constant pleasure for me to see the natural grains enhanced and the hidden beauty emerge in each piece. ” Richard notes that all purchased wood is from reputable dealers who are active with the conservation of the world’s woods and who participate in certified, sustain-yield forestry projects around the globe.

Chris Honeysett of San Rafael specializes in fine art black and white photography of trees, architecture, form and landscape. His photos have been published in many publications including Black and White Magazine and View Camera. Chris just returned from travels in Hawaii, New Orleans, Texas and Florida where he captured majestic photos of the areas, many of which will be on display in Burlingame.

The Burlingame Art Society will again  join Art in the Park to sell their artwork. Founded in 1957, the organization’s membership includes artists from throughout the Bay Area whose work is often exhibited at local banks, offices, hospitals, libraries, restaurants, galleries and gift shops.
