*Grew up in the Archbald Mountains of NE PA. Graduated from high-school football power Valley View High School (I played the trumpet in the marching band). Attended college-football power Penn State (I wasn't good enough for the Blue Band). Began teaching in New Orleans (The University of New Orleans didn't have a band so I simply earned two Masters and worked on my harmonica jazz skills). Moved to the DC suburbs in '85 (lost my lip so the coronet is now in the attic), continued to teach elementary school before beginning my CULTUREMOB sportswriting career, my 1st love.
