Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds

Biography

Nick Cave explores his themes with a bizarre, sometimes self-consciously eclectic hybrid of blues, gospel, rock and arty post-punk. The lyrics are narrative prose delivered with a dark baritone voice, and the musical arrangements set the passionate tone.

The Good Son

It's a damn shame that Nick Cave isn't a household name. His often bittersweet arrangements seep of nostalgia and melancholy, so much so that you're drawn to listen to them over and over--possibly revisiting memories of an old lover. Think an Aussie Neil Young, with a fondness for the macabre, rather, the beauty in the macabre, and you have this prolific performer.

It's by no accident that his 9/29 show quickly sold out--he has a solid following. But I am in the minority that wishes he were better known outside of the film/music community and avid music listener category.

There's still tickets to his 9/28. If you're looking for a show to blow you away with its earnestness this is it.
