Nate Omdal

Nate Omdal has lived in Washington for most of his life. He was first drawn to music when he joined his middle school's marching band. His participation gave him the opportunity to learn Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, and Bass, along with the chance to conduct and arrange. Nate's professional musical career began at the age of 15, when he began arranging and booking events for a ten piece jazz ensemble. Nate moved to Seattle in 2001 to study at Cornish College of the Arts. While at Cornish, he majored in Jazz Bass performance, and was honored as a recipient of the Hadley Caliman Scholarship. In 2005, Nate was a member of the Qhromatics featuring Denney Goodhew, which was honored with an Earshot! Award Nomination for Best Outside Group. Nate studied acoustic bass with local jazz legend Chuck Deardorf, and Ron Simon of the Seattle Symphony. He has also studied with Randy Halberstadt, Julian Priester and Denney Goodhew. Nate has performed with Denney Goodhew, Hadley Caliman, Jay Thomas, Dawn Clement, Jim Knodle, Jose Martinez, Matt Jorgensen, Josh Rawlings, Adam Kessler, Jason Parker, Mark Oi, D’Vonne Lewis and Beth Fleenor. He has performed at Dimitrious’ Jazz Alley, Tula’s, The Musiquarium Lounge, the EMP Skychurch, Consolidated Works, The Bite of Seattle, The Pike Place Market Street Fair, The Space Needle, Egan’s Jam House, and the District Lounge. Nate is currently recording, designing, and producing albums for the new independent jazz record label BrokenTime Records.
