DJ Manos
Biography
Initially arriving onto the Seattle scene around the turn ov thee century, dj "Manos" has been quietly making a name for himself in the Northwest electronic music community. Gaining attention for his down & dirty acid house and techno sets as well as his taste for various strains of experimental, minimal, and downtempo electronica, Manos is a man that lives in his ears, able to stimulate the mind, open the heart, and shake the booty. Born in Minneapolis, Seth's first musical love was his father's copy of the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band (his favorite song was Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds). As he grew up, Seth was drawn to much of the punk, and new wave styles that were emerging during the early-mid eighties. He developed an ear for bizarre sounds and an appreciation for independant artists and their passion for art over commercial success. It was in 8th grade, when a friend lent him tapes by early industrial artists Ministry and My Life With theThrill Kill Kult, that Seth became hooked on the sounds of drum machines and synthesizers. Soon he was collecting albums by artists such as Frontline Assembly, Psychic TV, Revolting Cocks, Front 242, Negativland, Skinny Puppy and others. In High school he attended his first "Raves" as Minneapolis' electronic music scene grew rapidly during the early nineties. Techno was exploding all across the mid-west as the acid house sound was hitting it's peak.(pun intended)
Years later, after relocating to Seattle Washington, Seth decided to finally share his passion for unique sounds with the world. Taking his name from an obscure grade-B horror movie on an old episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000, dj MANOS came into being. He quickly became involved with several of the northwest's underground communities primarily working with Uniting Souls, The Oracle Gatherings, and more recently, the Seattle tech-house label, Innerflight Music, bringing with him a playful sense of fun and a keen enthusiasm for event quality.
Manos has played at many of Seattle's hottest venues including The Baltic Room, OsseaO-Gallery Of The Senses, Trinity, Contour, Nectar, Re-Bar, TosT, The Seamonster Lounge, and CHAC Lower Level, as well as performing at Burning Man, Natural Mystic, The Oracle Gatherings, Prosperity, Decibel Festival, Kinetic 2 and numerous other underground events throughout the northwest. Having shared billing with such diverse names as dj Three, Phil Western, Sombionx and Lindsey, Doc Martin, Kraddy, Randall Jones, Bassnectar, Synth Club, Johnny Fiasco, JT Donaldson, Phutureprimative, The Funginears, and others, he is known to infect soundsystems with heady doses of warped alien funk.
