Michael Williams
Biography
Michael LePaul Williams, son of the late Junior Medlow Williams, Texas legendary bluesman, is one of the few guitarists who can claim by heritage and genuine talent the title of "guitar slinger". Michael immediately draws comparisons to his mentors Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix with his blistering licks and performance energy. Add to this his soulfoul vocals and song writing skills and you have the ingredients to Michael’s seemingly boundless talent. Michael, 30, has already had the opportunity to work with many accomplished musicians. Besides playing with his dad, Junior Medlow and the Bad Boys, he has played with Willie Nelson, Chris Duarte, Breedlove, and Elvis T. Busboy. He has opened for the Spin Doctors, Delbert McClinton and Merle Haggard. Michael’s former band, "Mojo Hand", won the 1996 Battle of the Bands in Lubbock. After the death of his father, Michael moved to Seattle to pay tribute to one of his heros, Jimi Hendrix. There he formed, the Michael Williams Band, consisting of veteran players, Tony Williams on drums, Gerald Turner who plays masterful bass guitar and Ryan Shea Smith ..boards. The Washington Blues Society nominated them as "The Best Unsigned Band." Michael performs in Austin, Houston, and the Seattle area. This year may prove to be an exciting year for Michael with a new record release. Following in the footsteps of his beloved late father, while finding his own musical path, has led to Michael’s success. His father would certainly be proud.
