Barbara Morgenstern

As a keyboardist and vocalist, Barbara Morgenstern has always adopted a truly DIY attitude towards music. As a member of Gemany’s Wohnzimmer-Szene (“living room scene”) in the 90’s, she would play concerts in living rooms so that the music, not image or fame, would be the central focus. After playing in bands and singing in an a cappella group, she moved to Berlin and focused on writing her own music in 1996. Along with releasing solo material, she’s collaborated with artists such as Thomas Fehlmann, Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie), Stefan Betke (Pole) and Robert Lippok (To Rococo Rot). Her latest album, The Grass is Always Greener, features songs with an energetic electro-pop feel, as well as mellower tracks with warm melodies and analog sounds. Her ability to combine acoustic instruments, electronic percussion, and playful vocals should make her live performance one not to miss.
