Biography

"Embrace that which defines you." -Donna Cook (Dane Cook's mom). Christopher Moist aka Aksion has always had a good ear for music. Growing up, he listened to all genres of music: hip hop, surf rock, funk, R&B, soul, metal, punk, reggae, dancehall, blues, jazz, oldies, country and more. In 1993, after moving to Las Vegas from California, Chris picked up 2 of his favorite hobbies: graffiti and rapping. His hip hop career developed after moving to Seattle in 1998 and joining up with local hip hop crew Tribal Conflict. After having several nicknames over the years, Chris went with Aksion. The name was taken from his favorite MC, Redman's "Time 4 for Sum Aksion". It also serves as acronym for "A.ll K.inds of S.tyles I.n O.ne N.ature" A couple years later, after splitting ways with the group, he took notice to the sounds and events of the local rave scene and started dj'ing. From 2000-2003, Aksion developed as a house party dj going from strength to strength playing: hip-hop, funk, house, techno, breaks, hard house, nrg and goa. The CD that changed it all was Aphrodite's "Urban Jungle". In this mix, Aksion heard all the things that he liked best in music. From that he followed all forms of jungle & drum n bass. Now a certified Junglist, in 2005 he met Jessica Truax of Tytan Productions. Through her he met Aaron Simpson and under their guidance was able to take what he loved and develop himself into the dj he is now. Aksion is known for throwing down high energy, fun sets that covers a wide range of drum 'n bass, and more recently dubstep. Since 2005, he has opened for the likes of: DJ Hype, Bassline Smith, Mampi Swift, Marky, Calyx, Teebee, Goldie, Photek, Dieselboy, Fresh, AK1200, Reid Speed & Danny Byrd. Aksion is also a resident on www.c895worldwide.com/89.5 FM's The Vortex and in 2006, played the show more times that year than any other dj. He also plays out regularly at the local dnb weeklies @ The War Room & Baltic Room, Last Supper Club and Deep Down Lounge as well as for crews like Red Cube, Shift, Next Level, Kaos Theory, Onset, Beat Affinity. In August of 2006, he was asked by the management of Club Element to run their dnb weeklies in the sideroom. He took a chance and went with his heart. He developed a night filled with positive energies and also supported other styles of broken beats like breaks, dubstep and speed garage. Since then his night and crew "BodyRock" have established themselves firmly within the Seattle EDM scene.
