Art for Holiday Gifts: Some Seattle Options
It happens every holiday season. What to get those loved ones that are so hard to shop for? More socks? Fancy kitchen gadgets that never get used? Awkward gift certificates? How about investing in your artistic community and buying a unique, thought-provoking work of art for your friends and family? Not only are you getting them a gift they are sure to love, you’re also supporting the Arts, which is a gift that keeps on giving! Art is an investment that brings character, charm and good conversation into the home or office. And in Seattle, there is certainly no lack of outlets to find these treasures.
Here are a specially-picked few, located in several neighborhoods around the city:
In Ballard, Venue Work Studio + Boutique offers a wide range of handmade items including fine art & jewelry. Venue boasts over 40 Seattle artists and designers and is continually adding to the collection. In addition to consignment, artists and designers can create their crafts in one of Venue’s eight work studio spaces, so you can take a peek behind the scenes! While in Ballard, a must-see is Souvenir, owned and operated by Curtis Steiner. Just perfect for your friends and family with extra-refined taste. Enjoy fine jewelry, precious antique finds and a gorgeous selection of cards, all true works of art.
If you’re in the Capitol Hill area, visit Ghost Gallery, Square Room and Cakespy Shop for a diverse selection of Miniature Art, Jewelry, Cards and super friendly service. It’s all about keeping art accessible, and you won’t be disappointed!
Just down Denny Way is another amazing spot by REI, Velocity Art and Design in South Lake Union. You may not have known that Velocity carries artwork by local and regional artists, but they do, and it’s a great local business to support. They also have home decor, furniture and much more. And finally (for now, we’ll have some more venue highlights this week!), Twilight Artist Collective in West Seattle. A great group of entrepreneurial artists, providing fresh, local urban art that is sure to please.
