Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘PSYCHO’ – 50th Anniversary Screening in NYC

Step into the shower with the sexy Marion Crane this Halloween weekend…

The Film Forum in New York City will be hosting a special 50th Anniversary screening of the immortal Alfred Hitchcock horror classic PSYCHO.

The film will be playing at the theater from Friday October 29th to Thursday, November 4th, 2010. The Film Forum can be found at 209 W Houston St, New York, NY. The film will be shown daily during that week at 1:00, 3:15, 5:30, 7:45 and 10:00 pm.

Psycho is one of the most influential horror films in the history of cinema. It is a film that shocked an entire nation and made everyone fearful of taking a shower. It is to this day a very scary movie–even if you already know all of the terrible and terrifying secrets revealed at the film’s end. It is also intelligent, sexy, tragic and funny in the most unexpected places.

I love Psycho. In my opinion, it is a shocking and strangely addictive movie. It contains two amazing performances from stars Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh and equally strong ones from the supporting cast. The music, the cinematography, the screenplay–everything about it is spectacular. So, whether you’ve never seen it or have seen it a dozen times–come enjoy the thrill of being scared by a true horror classic.

I’ve never seen it but am intrigued by how chocolate syrup can look like blood–and how creative/resourceful Hitchcock was to think of that! I of course want to watch this after our fun screening of Rebecca! Which day are you going to the festival?

I don’t like Psycho- it didn’t scare me. He did Birds too right? I recently saw that movie again and the ending was not how I remembered it- are there two versions~?

Because Psycho has influenced almost every “slasher-horror” movie ever made, it may not seem as scary as it did back in 1960. But I still find it very effective due to the innovative visual techniques and haunting music.

I don’t think there is an alternate ending to The Birds but that’s another film that may have lost some of its impact after a long time. Still love it though!
